Emergency housing and medical fund

Several of us from the board of directors of Gandhi Brigade Youth Media have been assisting a couple of local immigrant families with food and resources during this time of crisis. 

Family #1 has 5 members - 2 parents and 3 children (girls aged 11 years, 4 years and 7 months.) This family is in Hyattsville.

Family #2 is a family of 3 with a baby. This family is in Aspen Hill.

We have contacted many local organizations looking for rental assistance support for Family #1. We have also written to local politicians asking for help and advice. While we await responses, we will be using funds from this Go Fund Me to ensure that Family #1 can stay in their apartment. They are currently 2 months behind on rent and receiving warnings from their landlord.

We will also use some of these funds to ensure that both families are receiving needed food and medical services. Family #1 recently had a couple of medical emergencies and this fund was used to help the grandmother get to the emergency room and will be used to get the young mother to the dentist for some extensive work that needs to be done.  Some of the money that has been received from this fund has paid for extensive, and probably life-saving, dental work which cost $3,341. The work was done at a sliding-scale clinic, so that price was deeply discounted.
