Save Ahmed from Egyptian Military Conscription
Donation protected
Ahmed, a Sophomore at Robert Morris University, is facing a challenging situation due to Egypt's compulsory military conscription laws. He graduated from the African Leadership Academy and arrived in the United States to pursue his education. Unfortunately, Ahmed is also confronted with the reality that he may not be able to return home for the next ten years because of these laws.
All Egyptian men between the ages of 19 and 30 must serve their country, even if they are students studying abroad. Non-compliance with these laws can have severe consequences, including the inability to travel abroad, renew their passport, or return to Egypt until the age of 30. This predicament is now looming over Ahmed as he faces the expiration of his passport once he turns 24.
On August 13, 2023, a glimmer of hope emerged when the Egyptian government introduced a groundbreaking initiative to permanently allow Egyptians living or studying abroad to settle their military service obligations. However, this opportunity costs $5000 USD, with the payment deadline set for October 13, 2023.
With just 15 days left to meet this deadline, we kindly request your compassion and support to help Ahmed reunite with his family and continue his education without this looming obligation. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated to enable Ahmed to seize the opportunities that lie ahead.
