Hurricane Agatha hit Puerto Angel Oaxaca on Monday May 30th with more force than anyone expected. Our dear friend's restaurant, a family gathering place for the people of Puerto Angel and visitors from all over the world, was utterly destroyed. The remaining kitchen and living quarters that houses 3 generations are not safe and will need to be demolished.

This is not just a restaurant. It's the livelihood and cultural heart of a community who has fished and protected this precious part of the coast for generations, helping visitors enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and delicious family recipes. Lidia and Chente's restaurant holds memories for so many. The sentimental value can not ever be compensated. But we can help rebuild for their grandchildren so they can continue to fish, serve, and protect this special place. Please join us in helping the people of Puerto Angel and the Amigos del Mar restaurant recover from this tragedy.

El huracán Agatha azotó a Puerto Ángel Oaxaca el lunes 30 de mayo con más fuerza de lo que nadie esperaba. El restaurante de nuestros queridos amigos, un lugar de reunión familiar para la gente de Puerto Ángel y visitantes de todo el mundo, quedó completamente destruido. La cocina restante y las viviendas que albergan a 3 generaciones no son seguras y deberán ser demolidas.

Esto no es solo un restaurante. Es el sustento y el corazón cultural de una comunidad que ha pescado y protegido esta preciosa parte de la costa durante generaciones, ayudando a los visitantes a disfrutar del ambiente relajado y las deliciosas recetas familiares. El restaurante de Lidia y Chente guarda recuerdos para tantos. El valor sentimental no puede ser nunca compensado. Pero podemos ayudar a reconstruir para sus nietos para que puedan continuar pescando, sirviendo y protegiendo este lugar especial.
