Save 395: Protect a Vital Safe Space in Bristol

Hi everyone, my name is Ray, and I’m reaching out to you from the heart. Four years ago, I moved from Bangladesh to Bristol as an international student, immediately falling in love with the city’s vibrant creativity, diverse communities, and inclusive spirit, which for me was freedom for the first time in my life. As a queer individual living with disabilities, I know firsthand how crucial it is to have safe spaces where everyone can truly be themselves and find their tribe.

That’s why, alongside Kwazi—a Bristol-born and raised rapper who’s spent his life making music, nurturing local talent and passionately representing our city—we poured our hearts into creating 395.

395 isn’t just a venue—it’s our home, our purpose, and our chosen family. It’s a grassroots hub where countless emerging artists, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people of color, disabled creatives, and diverse community members have found support, friendship, and pathways to meaningful careers. ️

But right now, we’re at serious risk of losing it all. Our MONTHLY bills and debt repayments have reached £7,500—not even including salaries, as we prioritize keeping the space alive. The financial pressures are overwhelming, and without immediate support, bankruptcy is a very real and devastating threat.

According to the Music Venue Trust, NTIA, and the Arts Council, grassroots venues like ours are disappearing WEEKLY —every closure is a loss of culture, community, and hope. We refuse to let 395 become another statistic.
