Savannah Brunk’s Service Dog Fundraiser
Donation protected
Savannah Brunk is a non-verbal, 5-year-old little girl with autism. Savannah struggles with severe anxiety, which results in her eloping from both home and public spaces. Her therapists and neuropsychologist recommended a service dog for Savannah, for things like, emotional regulation, coping with social interaction, catching the signs of her panic attacks, as well as intervening with stimming and other self-harming behaviors. They also recommended having her trainer do tracking and nose work with the dog, to help her parents find Savannah if she elopes from home.
Her mother applied to several service dog organizations in the past year, all of which denied Savannah's application, due to her young age, and need for tracking training, in addition to the typical autism service work. On suggestion from several therapists and other people who have had service dogs, they suggested her family adopt a hunt line labrador and send him to training.
Savannah's family is raising money for her puppy, Goose, who is at intensive search and rescue, and autism service dog training at NCK9LLC in Four Oaks, NC. Savannah's insurance will not pay anything towards Goose's training, even though a service dog is considered "medical equipment".
Goose's training and care will cost upwards of $20,000 throughout his lifetime, a cost that Savannah's parents are not financially prepared for at this time.
Any donations are appreciated!
