Hello!! I first heard about Empower a Child five years ago and ever since it has been on my heart to go to Uganda to go and serve with them. I am absolutely ecstatic to say that this summer I am getting the opportunity!
For the month of June 2019 I will be going to volunteer and serve in their ministry. This fundraiser is to cover living expenses for a month, flight costs, fees and visas :)
Here are some details of the work that I will be doing there.
The wonderful thing about Empower a Child is that they are focused on community empowerment. The projects they design are not just to do things for the community but instead come along side them to work together. Some of their projects, which I will be taking part in, include Empowered Leaders Academy which is a primary school for sponsored children. This includes things such as serving porridge, PE classes, bible story’s, scripture union, etc. They also do community outreaches and evangelism which focus on sponsored children, potential sponsored children and the elderly to see where the need is.
There are various manual labor projects that range from building a mud hut to building a drying rack or carrying jerrycans of water to someone’s house. They also have sports outreaches, daily devotions, and children’s programs where they teach bible stories and life skills!
If you want to know any more details feel free to reach out to me! I feel so blessed to have this opportunity and truly cannot do it without your help. Thank you so much for your support whether it is financial, prayer, or encouragement!
