In June this year, Sarb had a cough and breathlessness, which led to a chest X-ray showing fluid around her heart and lungs. We thought this was something as simple as an infection.

Unfortunately, she got a diagnosis of non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). After several tests, it was later confirmed that she had a HER2 gene mutation and the primary was the lung.

She was initially entered into a clinical trial, which could of given her access to a life extending drug.

Sadly, her health deteriorated and she was too unwell to be entered in to the clinical trial.

She is now hoping to have a life extending drug, which targets the gene mutation. This drug is not available in the U.K. The cost of treatment is £8,000 every three weeks. Her fantastic medical team have been so supportive and shown so much empathy and we are thankful for them. They did apply for the drug on compassionate grounds, but it was devastatingly rejected.

She’s facing this battle with incredible courage, strength, and hope — she truly inspires everyone around her.

To show my love and stand beside her, I’ll be shaving my hair off in solidarity on the Saturday 8th November. We’re raising funds to help her access vital treatment and care to give her more precious time with her loved ones. If a miracle happens ( and they do) then all the funds raised will go to cancer research.
