Sarajevo Migrants in Need
Help me stay motivated to run my next full marathon in Croatia! I'll be running this one for charity on February 23rd. I would greatly appreciate any financial support you can offer. Here is a little about the situation and where your donation would go:
Many of you have likely heard about the plight of migrants around the world, but this is something I am now seeing every day here in Sarajevo. I am joining other teachers at my school to help ease the daily struggle of migrants here as they try to survive the incredibly harsh winter conditions in Sarajevo. There is not enough room for all the migrants at the camps, so many are trying to survive living on the streets. Any money raised will be used to support the efforts to aid the migrants by Fresh Response and Compass 42, which are two NGOs that teachers at my school are working with. The most desperate need is in purchasing camping mats and adequate clothing for the winter weather. A community center has also been established that provides a safe place for migrants to shower, do laundry, and rest for a few hours, but they are in continual need of toiletries and laundry soap.
This race will certainly be more rewarding than most if we can start to alleviate some of the migrants difficulties.
