Sarah's campaign for Tommy's - Triathlon 2023

On Friday 11th October 2019 at 3:11am my brother and his partner gave birth to their absolutely gorgeous little boy Arthur David Longstaff. My second nephew.

Unfortunately Arthur was stillborn, weighing only 420g.

This wasn’t how this was supposed to be for them. The nursery was nearly ready, they were planning for his arrival and planning for their future as a family. This wasn’t fair.

I will never understand how they both had the strength to go home from hospital that day leaving Arthur behind.

The statistics show that 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in either miscarriage or baby loss. But you don’t really think about that until it affects someone close to you.

Tommy’s are doing some amazing research into the causes and prevention of baby loss. As well as offering some truly needed support to families who have suffered loss. Hopefully one day this statistic can be lowered!

I will be completing the Big Lime Triathlon 2020 (this will be 2023 now due to covid and injuries!) in Arthur’s name, raising money for this amazing charity! This is something massive for me, I’m terrified of open water swimming and I haven’t been on a bike outside since I was a teenager! At least I’m not bad at running. But I’m taking on this challenge for an amazing cause!
