Sarah Wellgreen Trust

On Tuesday 9 October 2018, Sarah Wellgreen disappeared from her home in New Ash Green, Kent, leaving behind her five children.

Sadly despite nearly reaching the third anniversary of her murder, Sarah's body has still not been located and after carrying out extensive searches in a vast area, one of the largest searches in modern UK police history, the Police have now had to stop actively searching for her. There has also been a large voluntary search effort led by members of the local community, again on a completely unprecedented scale not seen often in these cases. Whilst the Police have had to stop actively searching for Sarah, the voluntary search team goes on using a range of specialist volunteers and resources.

Sarah's ex-partner Ben Lacomba was charged with her murder and sentenced to 27 years in prison. He continues to maintain his cowardly silence and will not give up the location of Sarah's body. Her family face the ongoing nightmare no one ever wishes to face of not knowing where there loved one is.

The Search for Sarah Wellgreen community search team began shortly after Sarah was first reported missing and saw in excess of 1,000 people participate in searches to try and find her. The team was co-ordinated by six local residents who continue to oversee voluntary search efforts using specialist volunteers. An estimated 750,000 people was reached on social media around the country.

The team decided to launch the trust fund in December 2018, with the permission of her family. Sarah's mum and step-father swooped into action to take on the three youngest children and care for them on a full-time basis, the children having effectively lost both their Mum and Dad on that fateful night. The fund was established to assist with the three youngest children's future needs, and also to ensure there is money set aside to cover the costs of a funeral should Sarah be found in the ongoing community searches, or a memorial for the children in tribute to their mother.

The subject of Sarah's murder and ongoing search has been covered by the Killer in my Village series on Sky, the episode on Sarah aired on the 11 November 2020. It has also been covered on 25 May 2021 by the My Lover My Killer series on 5 Star (Sarah's episode is available on My5 until December 2021)

The co-ordinating team are working with Paul Rothwell at Martin Tolhurst Solicitors alongside The Carley Partnership accountants to establish and manage the trust fund. All donations are much appreciated and we can guarantee it will be for the sole benefit of the three younger children, no trustee or volunteer will receive any money from the fund.
