Sarah Maria Young Memorial Fund

Sarah Maria Young, devoted mom of 2 and Dean of Buffalo State passed away January 28, 2024, losing her battle to stage 4 cancer. She leaves behind her son and daughter - Elijah (15) and Addison (10) Bennett, and partner Jai Bennett. Elijah is a freshman in high school and Addie in her first year of middle school. Sarah is beloved by all who knew her. While she was highly respected and regarded in her professional life, Sarah’s purpose in life was to be a mom and she was the most incredible one.

Sarah and I met at Hamilton College in 1994. Over the years and especially as she and I entered motherhood, she became like a sister to me and an aunt to my children. As Sarah’s friend of 30 years, I’m starting this fund to help support her children in their future endeavors and education. One hundred percent of the fund will go directly into the childlrens’ trust fund which Sarah set up in advance when she knew she was terminal. As manager of the childrens' trust fund Alex Mikol (Sarah's cousin) will ensure 100% of the Go Fund Me donations are transferred to Sarah's children.

Sarah Young was sunshine in a bottle and brought great joy, love and belonging to all who were lucky to be a part of her life. To say she will be missed does not scratch the surface.

The purpose of the fund is to provide some cushion for her children as they grow up, go to college, and move into the world without their mom.
