A call to action for all that know and care for, Sarah and her young children. They are in desperate need of help and support to keep their family together amidst devastating escalating legal costs for divorce.
Sarah fled a dangerous and harmful relationship in 2022. Her soon to be ex withdrew his sponsorship of her US visa immediately in an attempt to have her thrown out of the country and separate her from the children. He failed to pay child support during their first year of separation, and Sarah and the children now reside in a domestic violence shelter. Sarah has received approval of a Violence Against Women’s Act visa (VAWA) which would allow her to remain in the USA with her children but the increasing legal costs and lack of support make it impossible. Sarah has temporary emergency primary custody of the children and is the safe parent in their lives. The family have been in the shelter for almost one year now and custody is still not decided and there is a final divorce trial still pending. The countless stall and delay tactics from her husband’s legal team seem designed to push Sarah to her emotional and financial limits.
Sarah has resilience, empathy and compassion. Research suggests that healthcare professionals like Sarah are three times more likely to experience domestic abuse than the average person. We ask that you join us in helping her to fight for her independence and freedom. She is battling against her husband within a legal system that permits coercive control and post separation abuse through the family courts.
Sarah is without her support network of family and friends in the USA. She is even unable to visit her support network as the children are subject to a do not depart order whilst the divorce is pending.
Any money donated will help us to continue the legal fight and keep this family together.
Please read our updates for more details and a message from Sarah.
