Sara & Raina's Bike Ride to Celebrate Bob's Memory
Tax deductible
Dearest Family,
To commemorate Bob's upcoming yortzeit (English Aug. 8; Hebrew Aug. 13/Av 23), I will be doing a ten-mile bike ride with our granddaughter, Raina. We will be doing our ride on Sunday, Aug. 16, at one of Bob's favorite Berkeley spots: Inspiration Point in Tilden Park.
Bike riding was one of Bob's greatest joys. As a young adult in 1963, he had a summer job in Worcester, Mass., and he explored the surrounding regions by bike. When he and I took our first camping trip together in the summer of 1970, he rode his bike from Boston to Maine (I drove the car and met him there). He rode in every place we lived in together: San Francisco, Chattanooga, Seattle, New Jersey, San Diego, and Berkeley. The last time he was on a bike was Thanksgiving of 2014, and you can see the happiness on his face in the photo above.
This year we are raising money for the Center for Common Ground, an organization that is working to ensure that every American will be able to vote in the 2020 election. Bob felt strongly about the majesty of the democratic experiment that is fundamental to our country.
Please join us in celebrating Bob's memory by supporting this campaign.
