Hi, My name is Beth. 8 years ago I lost my home and land in a huge wild fire in Central Portugal. I finally spoke to Sara, our dear friend and neighbour yesterday, after fire has ravaged the valley once again and she said with a pained laugh "Now it's my turn". Communication has been limited and fires are still burning but she is safe. It's a devastating, life changing trauma to have everything you own turn to ashes over night. Sara has been building and beautifying her house in the valley single handedly for 15 years. She's planted forests and flowers and kindness is her life's work. Sara is a jewel in the community, a friend whose generosity and love carried so many of us through the darkest days and she will always be Tia (aunty) Sara to our valley children. I was on the receiving end of so much generosity and now it's my turn to help someone I love. I know Sara's wisdom and resilience will see her through but I ask you all to donate any amount you feel to ease Sara through the heartache into her new chapter, unknown and still smoky, with prayers of beauty and safety so she can be surrounded by flowers once again.
