Hello everyone, I am Sergeant Calles, Julio over at 314th CHEM CO in Atlanta. I have been serving for 6 years and counting. I remember growing up that I didn’t have the opportunity to celebrate holidays like traditional households did. With my single mother having to work two full-time jobs and barely getting by, I still remember the many Christmas nights where she would come home during her break, wake us up to open the few presents she could afford to get us, and then head right off back to work.
When I was in elementary school, my counselor at the time had enrolled my brother (who is now a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps) and I into this program where uniformed service members would sponsor underprivileged youth and take them out for a shopping event for Christmas. Over 18 years later, and it is still the most memorable childhood Christmas I had.
The goal here is to host a similar event with kids from the Cobb County and Fulton County areas. I have sourced roughly 25 kids as of now and plan on growing. I am planning on bringing some of our military tactical vehicles out and putting Christmas lights all over them. Doors to the trucks will be open for photos for the kids, their families, and all neighbors!
I am asking for you to help us create a memorable Christmas event for the kids in our community. We are trying to be the hands and feet of Jesus. 100% of contributions will be given to the kids, their families, and their communities. We will not spare any contributions. I have many battle buddies who will be coming out in uniform, personal friends, and co-workers getting ready now to help plan this event. Thank you for your time, your consideration, and your contributions.
