Santa Monica Community Helpers is a community organization dedicated to helping seniors and the sick with the pickup and delivery of groceries, medicine, and toiletries. We can all be part of the solution and help save lives by reducing high-risk Santa Monica residents to public exposure and the contraction of COVID-19.
We need your help:
We will use these funds for two things:
(1) Protect the safety of our seniors by equipping volunteers with masks, gloves, and products to disinfect purchased goods before making deliveries to seniors; and
(2) Subsidize groceries for low-income seniors that typically rely on meal deliveries, food banks, and local churches while new resources are put in place to fill the gaps, etc.
We hope to have the funds in the next couple of weeks as we expect demands to continue to increase. Right now I am using my own $ to fund current requests.

Interested in volunteering? Know local seniors or those that are sick and need our help? Are you a marketing or social media expert? Do you have connections with the local tech and entertainment community that might be willing to donate? Do you know local businesses that would be willing to donate non-perishable items and toiletries?

About me: My name is Lorena Camarena, I am a 29 year old Santa Monica resident who moved here from San Francisco last year, and I work at YouTube. I created this organization after running into a number of seniors in my building who were experiencing issues getting their groceries (and shouldn't have been out in the first place amidst COVID-19 health realities).
