Hello Friends :)
In conjunction with 3D Printing for a cause U.S. I and several others have started running my 3D printer creating face shields to be donated to San Diego and other hospitals that have requested them due to a nationwide shortage.
We currently have three local hospitals that have reached out to us directly (Scrips, Palomar, and UCSD) and will try our best to distribute fairly to and to the greatest need (we are hearing they have zero currently and cannot order more).
The frames print in a little under 3 hours and the clear plastic is attached using a standard 3-hole punch (cool right!...not my idea). The clear plastic is disposable or can be re-used and the frames can be used more than once and cleaned in alcohol based solvents.
We are currently a team of 3 going on 4 printers in San Diego and each printer can print roughly 5 frames a day. To add a new printer to our farm it will cost about $400. Filament is a bargain and we can get quite a few frames per a $30 spool of PLA filament. The clear plastic is $20 per 100 and we can still order it on Amazon.
Whatever money we raise will be used to immediately fund more printers, more PLA, and getting face shields to San Diego and other Hospitals in need. Thank you all!
