The Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge is a prestigious biennial adventure race and fundraising event organised by the UK food manufacturing group Samworth Brothers. Since its inception in 2007, it has become a cornerstone of the company’s community engagement, raising over £2.8 million for charities as of 2024.
This May marks a special milestone as they celebrate the 10th event. To support a valued customer and raise funds for a great cause, Ornua has entered a team.
On the 9th of May, in the Peak District, Declan, Eoin, John and Michael will take on the nine‑hour adventure race, combining running, cycling and kayaking.
Our chosen charity is The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation — a nationwide organisation that funds and provides in‑home nursing care and respite support for children with severe to profound neurodevelopmental delay, up to the age of six.
John has first-hand experience of the fantastic support that Jack and Jill provide to families across Ireland;
“Since our boy Tomás (now six) was a year-old Jack and Jill have provided amazing support, with a weekly visit from his fantastic Nurse, Helen.
Tomás has a rare condition called Angelman Syndrome and it can be very challenging to access the support and care that kids with complex conditions require.
Having a highly qualified nurse with great experience look after Tomás provides priceless peace of mind.
Equally importantly Tomás absolutely loves Helen, and they always have great craic on their frequent outings & adventures together!”
We hope you can help us in supporting a fantastic event and an exceptional charity.
