My name is Samantha Williams, and I am a Life Scout in Troop 3017 in Frederick, Maryland, working towards earning my Eagle Scout rank. One of the key requirements to achieve this milestone is completing a service project to benefit the community.
For my project, I am organizing a drive through Peace Passers to collect soccer equipment that will be donated to a team in The Gambia, a country in West Africa. This initiative holds great significance for me as a life-long soccer player, and it represents an opportunity to provide access to essential equipment for those who need it most.
My collection drive will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Utica District Park.
I am collecting the following items, new or gently used:
- Soccer jerseys (Team sets of 10 or more of the same color preferred)
- Soccer shorts (Team sets of 10 or more preferred)
- Soccer balls in good condition (size 3, 4 or 5)
- Ball pumps and needles
- Soccer cleats and indoor/turf soccer shoes
- Soccer socks
- Goalkeeper jerseys
- Goalkeeper gloves
- Ball bags & travel sport duffle bags
- Small flat field cones
- NOT Accepted: T-shirts, winter clothing (team warm-ups, pants, jackets), running shoes, other sports items.

I am also raising money to pay for shipping costs of the equipment to Africa. Any additional funds collected will be donated directly to Peace Passers.
