My name is Jessica and im reaching out on behalf of my cousin. My cousin has been a caregiver to her older sister with down syndrome for the last 13 years, since both of her parents are deceased. She did her best to raise her daughter while also being the full-time caregiver for her sister.

Samantha is her whole heart. She’s been her responsibility and joy for many years, and although caring for her has never been easy, it’s always been filled with love and purpose.

Recently, things have taken a heartbreaking turn. Samantha’s mental health and well being has declined significantly. She’s been experiencing serious behavioral and emotional changes that are not only overwhelming, but at times dangerous to herself. For her safety and wellbeing, she can no longer be left alone — not even for a short period time.

Because of this, jami has had to take an indefinite leave from work, and simply cannot risk leaving Samantha without the full attention and care she now needs. Shes in the process of seeking medical help, behavioral support, and long-term care planning.

As a single parent with limited support, losing her income has left them extremely vulnerable. doing everything she can to keep them afloat, but the truth is: They need help to make it through the remainder of this month and all of next month with bills in order to focus on getting samantha the help she desperately needs with the possibility of the facility being out of state.

I’m asking for support to help cover:

• Rent, utilities, and basic living expenses

• Transportation for Samantha’s medical and behavioral appointments

• Emergency needs and supplies related to her care

• Temporary support services until we can get proper assistance in place
