Hello. My name is Samantha Santos. I just turned 3 months old yesterday.

This is me on my first day on earth.

When I was born, I suffered from Sepsis. There was a couple of bacteria found in my blood which causes me pneumonia. There has been tubes all over me. I was called "Meconium baby".

I was improving day by day. Tubes are being removed gradually, from Vent machines to IV's down to support oxygen. I'm starting to feed thru cup. since I was fed thru NGT right after I was born and didn't get a chance to feed from my mother for the first few weeks.

After a month of battle in NICU, I was sent home hoping that I will recover. I am starting to learn to feed from bottles since my mother does not have breast milk. Sleeping in my mom's arms is my favorite. I can't sleep without smelling her scent around.

Until one day, I started to vomit. Then I keep on vomiting right after I feed and eventually my energy starting to decrease. I lost weight instantly.

I began acting sluggish, and I just stare. I was rushed to hospital. After a day, my hearing test failed, and I was losing my sight as well. I no longer cry and I just sleep all the time.

After series of tests, Doctors found out that there has been a high pressure in my head because of water. (High Pressure Hydrocephalus) One reason why I am losing my senses.

They put a tube from my head going to my stomach as a treatment. ( Shunt )
My Neurologist took a sample of the water they got from my head and sent it to Infectious Disease Specialist.
They found a rare bacteria growing inside. ( Elizabethkingia meningoseptica ) Which, as of the moment, our country doesn't have a treatment yet.
They took another sample from my head, to confirm if it is the same bacteria that they found and it matches and it is growing inside my head.

They also found that my Left brain Ventricle is still large and not being controlled by Shunt. So another procedure has been done and also they get sample water from my Spinal chord ( Lumber Tap )

I've been here at the hospital for more than a month now. And our current bill is almost $5,000.00. It is still counting since doctors said that I may stay here for another month. My father is just an employee and my mother decided not to work to take care of me.

Please help me survive and be with my parents. Any amount would be helpful paying for my hospital bills and my medication. I am now at Manila Doctors Hospital.
Currently, portion of the service in the hospital has been halted because we need to settle half of our bill so they can continue treating me.
