Our hearts are heavy but full in saying goodbye to our beautiful Sam. He passed away on Oct. 8 and we are in San Francisco taking care of things. As many of you know, Sam struggled with trauma, addiction, and homelessness for many years, the last seven here in San Francisco. We were heartsick to lose our child, but doubly so that at the end of his life he was in such dire circumstances. Today we were treated to glimpses of a much richer life than we imagined. A group of social workers, harm reduction and medical angels treated us to a memorial gathering in a park where they told us about his adventures. He was well-loved by them and it was so gratifying to know that he had such good people supporting him. Next, we met up with a couple of guys from his tagging crew, heard about graffiti tributes and the admiration for Sam or Valuse/Values in the community. Word spread and soon we were approached by Sam's street friends, brokenhearted to lose his gentle spirit, humor, creativity, and compassion. His music community has been wonderful too. He had so many groups and so much love here. In the end, nothing was left unsaid and he knew how much he was loved by everyone. Godspeed sweet Sam.

This GoFundMe is to raise money to support the charities that supported Sam.  Our focal charity will be the Homeless Youth Alliance, a wonderful organization that is a 501(c)3 Not-for-Profit organization.  100% of these proceeds will be donated to the HYA.
