Se sei passato anche solo una volta da Rathaus, sai già cosa trovi quando varchi la soglia del nostro circolo Arci: un sorriso, uno spazio aperto, idee che circolano e una sedia sempre pronta per te. Da anni Rathaus è molto più di un semplice posto: è un punto di riferimento, uno snodo creativo e una tana sicura nel cuore di Piacenza. Vive e respira grazie alle persone che lo attraversano, rendendolo ogni giorno un presidio fondamentale di cultura e socialità dal basso.

Di giorno offriamo uno spazio tranquillo dove studiare o lavorare; la sera e nel weekend Rat si trasforma in un vero centro culturale. Ogni settimana proponiamo una media di quattro eventi gratuiti: dibattiti per far circolare le idee, rassegne cinematografiche fuori dai circuiti commerciali, musica dal vivo per dare voce ai progetti emergenti, oltre a mostre e laboratori pensati per stimolare la creatività di grandi e piccini.

In un periodo di prezzi in continuo aumento, resistiamo per mantenere aperto un luogo di aggregazione libero e accessibile a chiunque. Negli ultimi mesi, però, gli imprevisti si sono accumulati: le difficoltà della stagione estiva, particolarmente "calda" in tutti i sensi, unite a costi inattesi e all'aumento generalizzato delle utenze, si sono fatte sentire in modo schiacciante.

Finora siamo riuscite ad autosostenerci tramite investimenti personali, bandi, l’aiuto prezioso dei volontari e le consumazioni dei soci. Tuttavia, mantenere vivo uno spazio così grande comporta costi fissi importanti — tra cui un affitto elevato, non trattandosi di uno spazio comunale — che in questo momento sono diventati difficili da coprire da sole. Oggi ci troviamo ad affrontare pendenze e spese operative impreviste, unite ai costi dell’immobile. Insomma, ci attende una salita non solo ardua, ma quasi verticale.

Non vogliamo arrenderci e non vogliamo smettere di essere quel rifugio in cui incontrarsi e sentirsi a casa, ma il rischio reale è quello di dover fermare la nostra programmazione, che è proprio ciò che ci permette di andare avanti.

Per continuare a essere una delle luci culturali e sociali della città, abbiamo urgente bisogno del tuo supporto. Useremo i fondi raccolti tramite questa campagna per coprire le spese più urgenti: mettere subito in sicurezza lo spazio e saldare i costi di gestione indispensabili, come bollette, spese condominiali, diritti SIAE, e costi che riguardano gli eventi, garantendo così la continuità della nostra programmazione gratuita nei prossimi mesi.

If you’ve ever set foot in Rathaus, you already know what awaits you when you set foot in the door: a smile, an open space, a hub for exchanging ideas, and a chair ready for you. For years, Rathaus has been much more than just a venue; it is a landmark, a creative hub, and a safe haven in the heart of Piacenza. It thrives thanks to the people who pass through its doors, making it a vital center for grassroots culture and community connection every single day.

By day, we offer a quiet space to study or work; in the evenings and on weekends, Rat transforms into a vibrant cultural center. Each week, we host an average of four free events: debates that spark the exchange of ideas, film screenings outside the commercial circuit, and live music that gives a voice to emerging artists, alongside exhibitions and workshops designed to inspire creativity in both young people and those young at heart.

In a time of constantly rising prices, we are fighting to keep this gathering space open, free and accessible to everyone. However, recent months have brought a series of setbacks: the challenges of a summer season that was "hot" in every sense of the word combined with unexpected expenses and the general rise in utility costs have placed an overwhelming burden on us.

Until now, we have managed to sustain ourselves through personal investments, grants, the invaluable help of volunteers, and income from the bar. Nonetheless, maintaining such a large space entails significant fixed costs—including a high rent, as the premises are not municipally owned—which have become difficult for us to cover on our own. Today, we are facing outstanding debts and unforeseen operating expenses, on top of the costs associated with the property itself. In short, we face not only an upward climb, but one that is practically vertical.

We refuse to give up or stop being a safe space where people can meet and feel at home; however, there is a real risk that we may have to halt our programming—the very thing that keeps us going. To continue serving as a cultural and social beacon for the city, we urgently need your support. We will use the funds raised through this campaign to cover our most pressing expenses: immediately covering the premises and settling essential ongoing operating costs—such as utility bills, building maintenance costs, SIAE licensing fees, and event-related expenses—thereby ensuring our free programming continues in the months ahead.
