Sergeant Scott Bunker served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps as a rifleman in an infantry company and Scout Sniper platoon with 3rd Battalion 25th Marines. While assigned to Lima Company in 2005, Scott suffered serious injuries in the line of duty. While conducting combat operations in al Anbar province Iraq Scott took multiple machine gun rounds at point blank range during intense house to house fighting. A Purple Heart recipient, Scott lost his eye, half his lung, several ribs and suffered soft tissue damage to his left arm.
In 2006 the NFL donated Super Bowl tickets to Purple Heart recipients and Scott was selected to receive tickets to this once-in-a-lifetime event. However, due to the severity of his injuries and ongoing surgeries, Scott could not attend the event.
Having served with Scott in Lima Co and in the same sniper team, Scott and several other Marines decided to gift the ticket to me. I was fortunate to see my favorite team the Pittsburgh Steelers play in Super Bowl XL.
I would like to return the favor to Scott, a lifelong Bengals fan and native to Dayton, OH. Scott still continues to serve the local community as a Clearcreek Fire District firefighter/EMT. Please help me raise money and spread the word to honor this hometown hero and salute him for his service and sacrifice as we try to raise money to provide Super Bowl tickets and travel accommodations.
