Hello! My name is Kally and I am fundraising for my mom, Sally. She was diagnosed with MDS q5 Deletion, which is a rare blood cancer disorder that was treatable with a daily chemo medication. But in August 2022, my mom had a biopsy done that showed another chromosome was being deleted. That finding meant treatment wasn't working, and — if left untreated — would become acute leukemia.
Her care team in Eau Claire referred her to a specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Dr. Saliba, an oncologist, reviewed her case and submitted her for a bone marrow transplant. After much testing and several trips between Wisconsin and Minnesota, my mom was approved for the transplant. So, Sally, my dad Larry, and their dog, Sadie, have moved to Rochester for the foreseeable future as we face this journey.
The transplant team found a viable donor through bethematch.org, and on April 19th, my mom had her 2nd birthday as she was given a 2nd chance at life. She needs many medications that cost a lot of money out of pocket. We are asking for help covering those medication costs to relieve some of the financial stress and allow my mom to focus on her healing. Whatever isn't used at the end of her journey will be donated to bethematch.org to help cover the costs of other transplants and the people that selflessly give their time and comfort to donate bone marrow.
We all genuinely appreciate you and your donations. Thank you!
