In March 2019, I had the Privilege of joining my wonderful friend Lena along with Holly and Michala on a journey to Lesbos to experience the refugee situation which has been present since 2015.

While we were there, we met a man called Salam Aldeen who is one of founding members of Team Humanity. After he was wrongfully arrested for humanitarian action, he returned from Denmark to set up the “Hope and Peace centre”for mothers and children 100 yards away from Moria Camp, which is one of the most desolate and dangerous camps known in Europe.

Not only are these people the same as you and me but they are forced to leave their countries and when they think they are going to attain a level of freedom and a new start in life they are placed in these camps, which seemingly have no hope. Salam and his team have created a safe space for women and babies to meet, socialise, listen to music, talk to each other and have a respite from the dangers of the camp.

For many, this is a lifeline. However, with the ever growing population, the spaces that can be provided are becoming limited.

Salam has dreams of expanding the project to be able to house and support more women and children. After experiencing the conditions of the camp and the beauty of Salams Safe space, I have decided to try and raise the goal he set through GoFundMe.

GoFundme requires that I stipulate that the funds do get transferred into my account first in order to then get the money to the cause. Please be assured that 100% of the money raised will be going to Salam Aldeen to help with his expansion project. Please see below links to videos for more information on Team Humanity and Salam Aldeen himself.
