Sagkeeng First Nations Supported Housing Complex

Donation protected
Knowledge keepers, elders and community at Sagkeeng First Nation are currently working on a housing project that will support adults with disabilities in their community (no longer receiving financial and program support after the age of 21).
This new housing complex is a 10 unit complex that will provide both safe and secure housing as well as daily programming that fosters community, and wellness in all aspects. It is the first project of its kind in Canada!

Donations are being asked to cover the finishing touches!
To make this housing complex a home <3 These funds will be used to furnish the rooms and provide basic necessities such as linens, beddings, clothing, etc.

When we think of all the challenges a person with a disability faces, financial and supports are common areas that often scarce. As a young adult, what supports are in place for them? Often, these are the populations fall through the cracks; experiencing homelessness and other hardships when agencies can no longer hold them.
A disability doesn't go away, so why should the supports.
Sagkeeng has created this housing complex to continue to support the needs of adults with disabilities in their community. Join us in supporting this effort <3
A little about the fundraisers:

We are a group of occupational therapy students from the UofManitoba and we are so honoured that Sagkeeng's knowledge keepers and elders have trusted us to partner on this project! Beyond our fundraising efforts, we will be working on creating a daily program plan that will allow residents of this complex to be well, spend their time doing meaningful activities that foster growth and community, and access the good life they deserve!
This program will be developed to work with adults with disabilities in Sagkeeng living at the housing complex.
We are so excited to learn with the community over the coming months!

Again, ANY amount of donation is greatly appreciated and will directly support these individuals, helping create an environment where they feel a sense of belonging support and love, so they are able to thrive.
