Hey y'all! This gofundme is to help my good pal get out of an abusive living situation ASAP. They are currently on temporary disability for their mental health and their limited funds are running out soon. We're hoping to get enough to cover first, last, security plus an additional month of rent (around $850/month), living expenses for a couple of months, plus any moving costs. We're estimating this all to be about $5,000. We are keeping them anonymous for their protection.
They are a white 1-year sober, fat, neurodivergent, non-binary/trans person and need a safe place to heal and connect with community. They have been in their current living situation for the past 3+ years consistently, which has caused them a lot of stress, pain, and trauma. Their current living situation keeps them in close proximity to past abusers and from being able to adequately care for their mental health. The county they live in is mostly conservative and hostile to their gender identity. They are misgendered daily and are often unable to advocate for themselves because it is unsafe. I have watched them grow and hold space for themselves so much in that time. They have put so much energy into their healing process - seeking the support of therapy, working through the challenges of sobriety, and always advocating for their needs and boundaries. Their continued growth is now dependent on access to safe housing and supportive communities. It can be impossible to continue healing in abusive spaces and we shouldn't have to. Please help our friend to safety so they may heal, grow, and settle into a loving place.
