Safety, Peace, Home: A Second Chance at Life

Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my sister, who has endured more than anyone should in a lifetime — and she’s only 31. Her life has been one storm after another: escaping an abusive relationship, experiencing the trauma of a homicide, being horribly assaulted by some of her closest friends, and now facing homelessness.

She made the brave decision to leave a dangerous situation, and while that choice likely saved her life, it’s left her in an incredibly vulnerable position. Right now, she’s living day-to-day in a motel, just trying to keep a roof over her head and protect her two dogs — her only remaining sense of comfort and family. She can’t even leave for more than a few hours without fearing for their safety or worrying that someone might enter her room while she's gone.

She doesn’t want a handout — she just needs a hand up. I’m starting this GoFundMe to help her get into a safe, stable apartment — a place where she can finally exhale, sleep through the night, and start to rebuild. With housing, she’ll be able to save a little money, stock her fridge with food, and — most importantly — begin to heal.
