I am starting the Safer Outside Project, a community initiative to provide hydration and hygiene products to our unhoused neighbors. The idea was inspired when I noticed people bathing in White Rock Creek and realized that washing with creek water and typical soaps could potentially cause environmental contamination and increase their likelihood of becoming ill. This experience made me aware of the urgent need for safer, more sustainable solutions for those living outdoors.

The Safer Outside Project will distribute water-resistant, compact bags containing two collapsible, reusable water bottles, water purification tablets, camp soap, and quick dry towels. The objective is to decrease water-borne illness and environmental contamination by providing practical tools and education. Funds raised will be used to purchase initial packs, resupply items, set up a dedicated phone line where people can request a trade-in of used supply bags, and provide educational materials on how to use and return packs. Additionally, your support will help cover the costs of registering the non-profit, ensuring the project can grow and reach more people in need.
