Heart to Earth is launching the first phase of our initiative Safeguarding the Biocultural Heritage of Cacao. This phase focuses on creating an Ancestral Sanctuary — a living space where ancestral knowledge, traditional ecological practices, and Indigenous food systems can thrive again.
In a world that has grown disconnected from the roots of life, we are choosing regeneration — honoring the people and the plants that have carried wisdom for thousands of years.
This project lives deep in my heart because cacao has been one of my greatest teachers — a bridge between the Earth, the heart, and the wisdom of the ancestors. Through my journey, I’ve witnessed how Indigenous knowledge and food systems are disappearing as modern ways of life take over, and with them, the sacred relationship we once had with nature.
For me, creating this Ancestral Sanctuary is a way to give back — to honor the guardians of this wisdom, the women and families who have kept these traditions alive despite centuries of challenges. It’s a space to protect not only the cacao plant, but the stories, prayers, and values that it carries.
This initiative is about reweaving the bond between humans and the Earth, between spirit and soil. It’s a call to remember that regeneration begins with reverence — with recognizing that the food we eat, the forests we walk through, and the cultures we inherit are all part of the same living system.
By supporting this project, you are not only helping build a sanctuary — you are helping safeguard an ancient lineage that connects heart to land, and people to their roots.
Our Shared Vision
The Ancestral Sanctuary will be a sacred space to:
• Preserve Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Indigenous agricultural practices that protect biodiversity.
• Strengthen local food sovereignty, providing healthy and sustainable food for the community.
• Empower women by creating new livelihoods through cacao processing, ensuring that culture, economy, and spirituality remain interconnected.
• Restore the spiritual and cultural heritage of cacao, a sacred plant that has nourished both hearts and lands since ancient times.
• Prepare the ground for an ancestral seed bank and an educational center dedicated to youth leadership and regenerative agriculture.
Why It Matters
Cacao is not a commodity — it is a living bridge between humans and nature, a bearer of stories, traditions, and spiritual connection.
Yet, the rapid expansion of industrial agriculture and loss of Indigenous lands threaten both biodiversity and ancestral knowledge systems.
By supporting this project, you are helping to:
- Protect Indigenous food systems and biodiversity
- Create regenerative economies led by local women
- Preserve ancient agricultural and spiritual traditions
- Inspire the next generation of leaders and land stewards
This First Phase Goals
In this first phase, we aim to raise 50000$ to:
1. Acquire the land for the Ancestral Sanctuary
2. Build traditional infrastructure using local materials
3. Plant native cacao trees and complementary forest species
4. Equip a small cacao processing and women’s cooperative workspace
5. Support training programs on traditional agriculture and leadership (in partnership with ADINOR)
