This morning, we came across a car that had been running for over an hour. Concerned, we went to check if everything was okay, only to discover a mum and her 6-year-old child inside. They had fled a domestic violence situation and were keeping the engine running simply to stay warm.
She has already done all the right things and reached out to the services that are there to help, but sadly there is no emergency accommodation available for them right now.
We've been able to provide some warm clothing, blankets and food, but we're hoping our incredible community can help us bridge the gap until more permanent support becomes available.
If you own or manage a hotel, motel, serviced apartment or similar and are able to offer a short stay, particularly somewhere with cooking facilities. It would make an enormous difference to this little family.
If accommodation isn't something you can provide, but you'd like to help contribute towards the cost of a safe place for them to stay, any donation, no matter the size, would be deeply appreciated.
