Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary teachers and students need your help — now.
Due to dangerous chemical exposure from a roofing project, Sierra Elementary has been closed and we know at least for 2 months. All of our teachers’ classroom supplies as well as everything parents brought on meet the teacher - books, decorations, learning materials, tissues, art supplies, folders, markers, crayons, pencils, etc - should stay in the building until further testing is done to determine what is safe to remove. The district plans to move those items to Cerritos or Altadena, but we would much rather support the school/district so they don't feel the financial need to do so at the time, especially without final testing results, an understanding of the chemicals/levels and proper decontamination techniques if possible, doing so could expose students and staff to the same hazardous chemicals again.
We are standing firm to protect our teachers, our students, and our community. Without knowing exactly what is going to be provided to each classroom, our incredible teachers might be re-starting the year in cold-looking plain bare classrooms with nothing in them.
Your donation today will put safe, clean, and necessary supplies directly into the hands of every Sierra teacher to make their classrooms feel like normal for every student.
100% of proceeds will be split equally among Sierra’s teachers so they can buy the exact supplies they need for their classrooms and students — without risking their health.
$25 = classroom set of crayons or pencils for a few students
$50 = can help with reading books
$100 = art supplies for a semester
$300 = fully outfits one teacher’s desk area and classroom
We have 30 days to reach our goal, but we need your help in the next 3 days so teachers are ready before the first day of school on Monday 8/11/2025. Every dollar matters. Every share matters.
Our teachers show up for our kids every single day. Today, we show up for them.
Please donate now — and share this with your friends, family, and local community groups in Phoenix, Arizona, and beyond!
