My name is Darrell Beaver. I am a Detroit resident, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Recently, I provided rides to students who were walking to school in dangerously cold conditions after Detroit Public Schools exhausted their snow days and required attendance despite temperatures near -15°F with wind chill. I documented the effort on Facebook Live to show my intentions; however, some have raised concerns about my approach.

Because yellow school buses are permitted to transport students only when contracted by the school, several DPS schools that do not budget for transportation left students without safe options. In response, I have launched a GoFundMe campaign to purchase a passenger van and establish a nonprofit organization to provide safe, reliable transportation for students in need.

I am requesting community support to help fund this initiative and ensure children have a safe way to get to school. Thank you for your consideration. God bless.
