We are asking our community to come together for a Purvis local who has experienced more hardship than anyone should have to face alone. He is a widower and an amputee who lost his leg in an accident. A few months ago, tragedy struck again when his home burned down, leaving him without a place to call home and with very little of a support system to help him navigate everything that followed. He has been doing his best to keep moving forward, but right now, he needs some help getting back on his feet. Our goal is not simply to give him a handout. We want to help him regain stability, safety, dignity, and independence. Right now, we want to make sure he has the basic necessities he needs while he works toward a more permanent living situation. Funds raised will help provide: Food and everyday necessities Personal hygiene items Medical and mobility related needs Our Long-Term Goals: We have bigger hopes for him, too. His burned home still needs to be addressed. We would love to demolish and remove the remains of the burned structure and clean up the property, giving him the opportunity to start fresh without the constant reminder of what happened and also provide a safe environment. We also hope to help him obtain a handicap-accessible travel trailer with a ramp that can provide him with a safe, accessible place to live. Because of his amputation, accessibility is especially important. We want to find something that allows him to move around safely and maintain as much independence as possible. We Also Want to Get Him Back on the Road. The truck he has been relying on has now experienced a major mechanical failure, leaving him without dependable transportation. We would love to repair his truck and get him back on the road. Having reliable transportation would mean so much more than simply having a vehicle. It would allow him to get to appointments, buy groceries, handle everyday errands, take care of his property, and have some independence again. A larger donation can help us move closer to the bigger goals of accessible housing, property cleanup, and getting his truck repaired. He has already lost his wife, his home, his leg, and now his reliable transportation. He shouldn't have to face the next chapter alone. We can't undo what has happened to him, but together, we can help give him something he desperately needs right now: A safe place to stay. A way to get around. A clean place to start over.
