On Friday night, our family’s life changed in an instant when our apartment caught fire.

My five children and our family are safe, and I am incredibly grateful for that. But the place we called home is no longer somewhere we can return to. Suddenly, we are trying to figure out where we will sleep, how we will afford a new place, and how to give our children some sense of normalcy while everything around them has changed.

As a mother, it is heartbreaking to look at your children and not have an answer when they ask when we are going home. Right now, I don’t have that answer. I just know that I need to find them somewhere safe as quickly as I can.

We are urgently trying to secure a new home while also facing expenses we never expected: temporary lodging, food, clothing, a deposit, moving costs, and all the little necessities you don’t think about until suddenly you don’t have them.

I never thought I would be in a position where I had to ask others for help like this. But right now, I need help getting my family back on our feet.
