My name is Jana, I am 14 years old, and I live in Gaza in a tent on the roof of a sixth-floor apartment building. We lost our home and have nowhere safe to live.

Our lives are very difficult. There is no electricity, no regular water supply, and no protection from the cold or the heat. In winter, the rain soaks us, and at night we are afraid of the wind and the darkness. I am a child, but I am living in conditions far harsher than my age.

I dreamed of going to school and experiencing childhood like other children, but circumstances have deprived me of my most basic rights to safety, education, and comfort.
