This upcoming summer, I have the opportunity to volunteer with the A21 Campaign, a non-profit organization that works to fight human trafficking, in Newport Beach, CA. Having multiple locations around the world, they work on a global level to combat modern day slavery through prevention by providing awareness and education, protection in crisis centers and transitional homes, prosecution of traffickers, and partnerships with governmental agencies and fundraising supporters. 

Human trafficking is the world’s fastest growing criminal industry affecting every nation. There are more slaves in the 21st century than at any other point in history. About 27 million men, women, and children are being exploited for manual and sexual labor against their will. 

During my time with the A21 Campaign, I will be working with a team of other volunteers to plan and execute awareness events for the Southern California area as well as perform many other duties to fight this injustice. These outreach events and projects will educate potential victims in schools, orphanages, and universities as well as bring awareness of this issue to community groups and churches.
