Joel Mills

Hello, my name is Demaris Mills. In September of 2023 my brother tragically went missing, and was found floating in the river, Niagara on the lake.

The Niagara Health System, Niagara law enforcement, as well as the forensic team, and coroners, all participated in covering and lying about what really happened to my brother. They stated that due to the condition of his recovered body, they were not able to determine the cause of death. However, after reviewing all police and forensic reports, it has been made clear, that they showed severe incompetence, as demonstrated by the contrasting police records that don't align, and extreme lies, and manipulations, through Detective Sherri, and Dr. Walton; the officer and coroner responsible, and in charge of my brothers discovery.

When speaking personally to Dr. Walton myself, she stated that though she can not be certain, it is most likely my brother drowned. However, we know this to be completely false as the autopsy states there was no water in his lungs.

Furthermore, my father Jim Mills, whom my brother was living with, confessed to me that he had indeed beat my brother the night he went missing, and also stated that "he knows what happened, it happened in that spot right there", and when asked to elaborate, became enraged and refused to share more. His clothes he was last seen wearing were also found in my fathers home, sopping wet. When I called the police about this, and asked to speak to the officer responsible for finding my brother, I was completely shrugged off, and told, "well, he had no injuries before entering the water, so therefore it didn't happen." But in a earlier meeting with both coroners, Dr. Bellis stated, "I can not say, with 100 percent certainty, that all injuries were post mortem."

The police, and authorities have been ignoring our emails, and our efforts to reopen the case for my brother. They have refused to acknowledge their wrong doings, and have allowed my father to be walk freely. The time has come for me and my mother, who has been working tirelessly on this case since my brother went missing, to take legal action against all of those who wronged and let down my brother. However, we need a lawyer.

Our intention is to sue, the entirety of the Niagara Health team, as the hospital also had a part to play in prescribing my brother medication, that he should never have been on, as well as the law enforcement, and forensic team. This will eventually lead to going after my father Jim Mills, and making him finally pay for what he has taken.

I am asking, and pleading for justice for my brother. Joel was the kindest, most selfless person I have ever met in my life. He is the reason I am the person I am today, and I simply can't let his life end this way. My father is a psychopath, and had already, all but destroyed our lives even before he took my brothers life away. He must pay for this. They all must. Please, even if it's only a small amount, if enough people can come together and help us, it won't just serve justice for my brother. But justice for everyone who has been let down, and broken by our evil, corrupt system.
