Help Keep Silas Safe
To know Silas is to love Silas, and if you’re lucky enough to know him, you’re in good company!
Hi, my name is Linda Brink and I am Silas’ Nana. I have started this go-fund-me for my son Chris and daughter in-law, Yana. Our family is so blessed to have Silas (aka ‘Silas the Strong’) in our lives. We have watched him grow and develop into the sweetest little boy and we are so proud of him!
Silas is 6 years old now and because he was born with Down Syndrome, keeping him healthy and safe has unique challenges. Recently he is keeping us on our toes by finding ways to escape from the house and "elope" - and that's not in the romantic sense of the word! Eloping is when a child suddenly bolts or runs away which is both frightening and dangerous. Chris and Yana live near a creek and a very busy road which both pose very real threats to Silas' safety. They have installed multiple locks and alarms on the windows and doors, and are using a GPS tracker that attaches to his clothes. These are great safeguards but they are not enough. Silas has been creating several "close calls" with escaping and crossing the dangerous road, and getting lost around the neighborhood. That’s why we need YOUR help!
Chris and Yana have made the decision to install a fence on their property to further help keep Silas safe. As you can imagine, this is a massive expense and one that they did not anticipate in their budget. They have applied for various grants, but so far have not had any success. So, we are turning to our "village" to help make this possible. Please consider donating any amount, great or small, to help us keep our special “Silas The Strong” safe.
To save on the cost of the project, Chris and Yana will be installing the fence themselves. They will also be needing some strong hands to help with this too! Installation will begin near the end of September. Please contact them directly if you would like to to help.
Thank you so much!
Love, The Brink Crew
