Hi! I’m Ryan Yee, and I’m a sophomore at Design Tech High School in Redwood City. I am a core member of a service trip to Momi Bay, a village in Fiji which has become victim to many natural disasters, leaving thousands of families homeless and injured. Our mission in Fiji is to provide aid to the community, and we will be assisting a group called Rustic Pathways on their projects for rebuilding infrastructure. When I tell people I am going on a service trip to Fiji, they ask, “What service? Fiji is all about resorts and tourists.” What many people are not aware of, is that Fiji is a victim of many vicious storms. They are not aware of the thousands of villages, with families who are forced to rebuild their houses and buildings, despite limited resources. This means thousands of hard working men and women, and even children my age or younger, are forced to work on rebuilding their communities, as well as provide for their families. It is important to me to have the opportunity to provide aid to these people in need. As some of you may know, raising money as a highschool student can be very challenging, and we can use all the support we can get. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
