Ryan Walsh, Mr. Athens, 2024

My name is Ryan Walsh, and I am running for Mr. Athens in order to help Love for a Child through Troy Athens High School Charity Week.

Each year Athens hosts a week dedicated towards raising money for a local charity. For the 2024 charity week, Athens has chosen Love for a Child. Love for a Child was founded in 2012 with the goal of helping children and families in the foster care system.

"Love For A Child is a faith focused, 501c3, non-profit organization that serves children, youth, and families currently active within Michigan’s foster care system. Founded in 2012, the program focuses on impacting children of trauma, who have experienced different forms of abuse, abandonment, and neglect. Love for a Child has created and facilitates overnight camps, mentorship opportunities for children and youth, as well as, tailored resources for foster families to meet the specific needs within their care. During the 2023 Charity week Athens raised $115,184.24 for Carol's Angles & Warriors. This year I am hoping that we can raise even more.

The main event during Charity Week is the bid for Mr. Athens. A select group of students raise money in unique and creative ways and at the end of charity week, the student who has raised the most money is crowned Mr. Athens. Students are able to raise money in almost any way, such as selling items, getting donations from businesses, and running a GoFundMe. This year I am running for Mr. Athens again and I am hoping to raise over $3,000.

100% of proceeds will go towards Love for a Child. Thank you for any amount donated towards such a great cause!
