MSU Counseling and Psychiatric Services
Donation protected
Hi all. Not sure how to start this post but I hope some of it makes sense. The recent mass shooting at Michigan State University (MSU) on February 13th has felt like a tragedy in so many ways.
I completed my internship at MSU Counseling and Psychiatric Services (MSU CAPS) this past year, my advisor completed his internship there, and I have continued to provide counseling services to individuals around the area. My colleagues, supervisors, and friends at CAPS have worked around the clock since the tragic incident setting up listening spaces, meeting students in dining halls, and providing crisis services to students, parents, and community members. Everyone here is in shock. Everyone here is grieving. Everyone here is trying to make it, day by day.
The CAPS staff at MSU (70+ people) have set up listening spaces, reunification centers, crisis support, and continued individual & group therapy services.
As a former intern, current friend, and colleague of those at MSU CAPS, I would like to support their efforts and the difficult work they are doing and will continue to do. If you are willing and able to donate it would be much appreciated. This tragedy is so, so incomprehensible.
I am grateful for the people who can show up for others through mental health services.
