Hi I'm Dan, a cyclist in Richmond VA and I regularly ride an electric cargo bike as my only personal vehicle. Richmond's bike lanes are a mess and they desperately need cleaning up. Leaves, gravel, sand, trash, sticks, nails, glass and more all end up in the bike lane and often stay there for months regardless of 311 requests.

The purchase of this bike lane sweeper will kick start a volunteer effort to clean up Richmond's bike lanes. Volunteers will sign up to adopt bike lanes they want to see clean. The sweeper will be passed between volunteers on a rotating basis to make sure as many bike lanes are swept as possible.

The spare brush is needed in the case of sudden brush failure or for when the included brush eventually wears out. An additional brush will allow for the time needed to raise funds for a new brush without sweeper downtime.

A sweeper safety kit will be passed between volunteers. It will include 2 different size safety vests, ANSI certified safety sun glasses, KN95 masks to protect from dust, gloves, tire pressure indicator caps, a phone mount for volunteer videos, a bag to keep the kit in, 8 additional hitch brackets to allow for easy transfer of sweeper, a lock, patch kit, mobile pump, a spare tube, tools, and stickers & patches for labeling parts & equipment.
