Rutgers Rotaract Nepal Philanthropic Mission
Donation protected
Who I am, and who I represent:My name is Samantha Waldron, and I am a dedicated member of the Rotaract Club of Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Rutgers Rotaract is an extension of Rotary International, a humanitarian service organization that provides "service above self" and advances goodwill and peace around the world. It is a non-political and non-sectarian organization open to all people regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, or political preference. I will be working through Rutgers Rotaract, the Rotary Club of Branchburg and The Asha Project. (see sources)What the funds will be used for:I am looking to travel to Nepal to help communities by delivering school supplies to Kathmandu and the surrounding villages, spending time with the children and helping with on-site projects. I look forward to embracing the culture of the Nepalis by learning about their dances, their food, and their communication. We will be donating hygiene products, school supplies, access to clean water, and clothing. The funds will only be utilized for the supplies and/or donated directly to the Nepalis. The exact trip dates have not been determined yet, but it will take place between December 2019 and January 2020. I will post it here with more details as soon as I get them. How much this trip means to me:This financial support will mean so much to me, as I am a full-time student and intern, and I have loans for school. This trip is really important to me because I want to expand my horizons as a young woman in science. Rotary International is close to my heart, and it would be my greatest honor to serve as a humanitarian volunteer in another country. I believe that it will help me grow and develop as a human being. The most important part of traveling to Nepal for me is to listen to what the people need and to donate my time as a young student to help them with what they need, instead of assuming that I already know what they want or what the conditions are. I am so grateful to anyone that is willing to listen and share my ambition to make the world a better, more peaceful place to live for everyone. Thank you, so much, for your time, help, consideration and generosity, and I hope you have a wonderful day.Sources:https://www.rotary.org/enhttps://portal.clubrunner.ca/3078/http://theashaproject.org/
