Hi I am Chris, a member of the Bungonia Rural Fire Service Brigade. The Brigade is seeking help to put down new flooring in its station. The work will cost $11,200 and we are seeking $7,000 in donations (over $2.00 tax deductible)
We serve the small rural community of Bungonia, near Goulburn in NSW. Our thirty-five volunteers work, train and banter together and with our two great trucks we have many fires, accidents, and other incidents under our belts.
As with all rural fire brigades, basic equipment is supplied, but anything extra is up to us. We have been on the job. In the last three years the station has a new kitchen, air-conditioning, a refurbished communications/meeting room and better, more efficient, equipment storage. In the pipeline we have new poles to dry hoses when we return from a fire, and increased and more efficient water storage allowing trucks to refill quickly.
The current station floor is unsealed concrete. It is dusty, oil stained and hard to navigate when returning trucks to the station at night.
The solution we’ve found would include cleaning the floor, sealing it with a heavy-duty product, and re-marking yellow guidance strips. The end-result will be a non-slip floor, with easier removal of oil spills and diesel and better visibility, and which will minimise concrete dust being breathed in by firefighters. Overall, a better health and safety environment for our brigade.
