Hello everyone,
My name is Basil and I was born and raised in Bamenda, in the Northwest Region of Cameroon before moving to the United Kingdom (UK). I will be running the Paris Marathon 2025 and 10 other races in 2025 for Victree Foundation (VF).
In the past 8 years, thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Northwest and Southwest Region of Cameroon, have been forced out of their homes and livelihoods as a result of the Anglophone crisis. This conflict has resulted in immense destruction, casualties and poverty. It has taken the lives of some close friends, classmates and relatives. Approximately, over 584,000 people have been internally displaced and over 73,000 people have become refugees in next-door Nigeria, many of whom are school-age children.
What can I do to help?
I have thought of ways to help my community and decided to challenge myself, by running 10 races to raise funds for internally displaced children and build a future through sports. As part of the challenge, I will be running a marathon, half marathon x 5, 10km x 2 and 5km x 2, over a period of 11 months across England and France (from February 2025 to December 2025), to raise funds to support IDPs and children in the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon.
What can you do to help?
You can help by donating to this good cause. You can also share the campaign with your friends and family on social media to raise awareness and support.
All donations via VF, will go towards empowering local communities, supporting education and sports programs for children affected by the crisis, providing books, food, clean water, medical care and safe shelter to IDPs. Donations will also be used to support initiatives that provide economic opportunities for affected persons especially mothers and widows, including vocational training.
Every little bit counts and any donations no matter how small the amount is, would be greatly appreciated. Please join me in making a difference, by supporting and giving hope to IDPs and children of the Northwest and Southwest Region of Cameroon, affected by the Anglophone crisis.
Thank you in advance for your support!
