RUNNING SAMARITAN

Hello, I'm Jesus M. Mendoza, and I am a member of the Flying Samaritans chapter at California State University, Long Beach. As part of this student-run non-profit organization, our primary mission revolves around delivering vital medical assistance to an underserved community, in Tecate, Mexico. Each month, our dedicated team of students and healthcare professionals embarks on a journey to host cost-free clinics, offering care, medications, health education, and other basic necessities to those in need. Operating solely on the generosity of donations and the success of our fundraisers, we continually strive to enhance our clinic facilities and ensure our patients receive the support and care they deserve.

In addition to my dedication to community service, I'm deeply passionate about fitness and personal growth. One of my goals in life is to relentlessly pursue self-improvement and push the boundaries of my mind and body. Last year, I completed my first marathon in Long Beach. A grueling yet profoundly rewarding experience that has ignited my passion for running. This year, I've set my sights on breaking the three-hour mark at the Rock 'n' Roll marathon in San Diego this June.

Beyond a personal achievement, this endeavor presents an opportunity to raise funds for the families and children I've connected with through our clinic trips. My aspiration extends beyond mere fundraising; I aim to inspire not only the individuals we serve but also those around me to strive for greatness, set ambitious goals, and tirelessly pursue them. I hope to instill in these children who attend clinic the courage to dream big and the determination to achieve extraordinary feats.
