Hello there, I'm Chloe!
In September last year, I completed my first 1/2 marathon in England. For those who know me, the climate was a challenge in itself, never mind the running. I've never considered myself a runner but after completing this, I was certain I wanted to be striding into a much warmer place.
After some research, I came across the Caixabank Palma Half Marathon in Spain. This seemed like the ideal place for me as I travel there a lot and i'm learning the language, plus the weather is much warmer! However, I kept putting off committing to this because I knew it would mean training in England throughout the winter, which for a woman who doesn't like the cold and suffers with Raynaud's, wasn't appealing to me at all. However, I put this aside for the greater good of not only achieving another personal goal but to raise funds for homelessness and young people, causes that are close to my heart.
I work for Nottingham Community Housing Association within the care and support department. I am the project manager for homelessness and young person's supported accommodation services, which all the funds I raise will be going towards. The people we support have experienced trauma and hardship which has landed them in the positions they are currently in. They are not as fortunate to have access to the basic necessities or the stability and security of a place they can call their home. The funds I raise will help to buy bedding, food, utensils, toiletries and other basic items. Not only that but it will allow me and my team to organise events and activities which will help people to feel part of a community and to escape the reality of life for even a short amount of time. A warm drink and a slice of cake really does go a long way!
Please support myself and this amazing cause in any way you can. And if anyone has any recommendations for thermal insulated gloves, please send them my way haha!
Muchas gracias y te veré en España.
