One Dad's Long Run in support of Dadfit
This weekend, I’m taking on one of the toughest physical and mental challenges out there - a Backyard Ultra.
Starting at 4pm on Saturday I’ll be running a 6.7 km loop every hour, on the hour.
I’m aiming to run throughout the night and see if I can see the sunrise on Sunday morning. To do so I’ll need to have run over 16 hours or greater than 100 kilometres.
It’s going to be a slog, but to for extra motivation to keep pushing through the night, I thought I’d raise some funds for a cause that has had a meaningful impact on the last 12 months of my life: Dadfit.
Dadfit aims to lift the physical and mental health of Dads, improving outcomes for children, partners and families around Melbourne. It’s a small charity, but it’s growing and making a big impact one dad at a time.
When I completed the Dadfit 5 week program in 2024 I was in the midst of a depressive episode, it was a challenge rocking up and exercising with a group of dads I didn't know. However I persisted and made some great connections.
All funds raised will go toward rolling out new Dadfit programs and events in Melbourne.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just some words of encouragement I can read when the running gets tough, as it certainly will.
